About Call To Scan & Clinical Safety
What is Call To Scan and how are you different from a traditional clinic?
Call To Scan is the UK’s premier 24/7 mobile ultrasound service. We bring highly skilled, registered sonographers and professional diagnostic equipment directly to your home. Our core difference is our commitment to eliminating the stress of travel, long waiting times, and rigid scheduling, providing you with immediate, expert clarity when you need it most.
Are your sonographers qualified and regulated?
Absolutely. All Call To Scan sonographers are fully qualified, highly experienced, and registered with the appropriate professional bodies in the UK, such as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). We maintain strict clinical governance standards for every appointment.
Do I still need to attend my routine NHS scans (12-week, 20-week)?
Yes, absolutely. Our services are for personalized reassurance, specific checks (like gender or position), and urgent well-being checks. They are not a replacement for your routine, medically mandated NHS scans. We strongly recommend you continue all scheduled NHS appointments.
What happens if the sonographer finds something concerning during the scan?
In the unlikely event that a finding requires urgent attention, our sonographers are trained in rapid escalation protocol. They will communicate the findings clearly to you, provide a full written report immediately, and directly advise and assist with contacting your local NHS Maternity Assessment Unit or A&E to ensure a seamless, immediate handover of your care.
Booking, Pricing & Logistics
How does the tiered pricing work?
Our price reflects our guaranteed 24/7 availability. The price shown for the service changes based on the time you select:
- Core Time (9am – 5pm): Standard, most competitive rate (e.g., our £190 Emergency Check headline rate).
- Evening Time (5pm – 8pm): Increased rate for out-of-work convenience.
Out-of-Hours (8pm – 9am): Premium rate for guaranteed, immediate access during nights and early mornings.
Is the travel cost included in the price?
How fast can you arrive for an Emergency Scan?
We are committed to an immediate response. Once your booking is confirmed, a sonographer is dispatched immediately. Our target is the fastest possible arrival time based on your location and current traffic, fulfilling our mission to eliminate dangerous waiting times.
What do I need to prepare in my home for the sonographer?
You need very little! Our equipment is portable. We require a clean, safe space about the size of a standard armchair and side table, along with a nearby electrical socket.
Can I have family and friends join the scan?
Yes, of course! This is one of the best parts of our home service. You can have family members, children, and friends attend the scan, free of the strict visitor limits imposed by most clinics.
Policies & Specific Scans
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
You can reschedule your appointment free of charge up to 24 hours before the booked time. Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance will receive a full refund, minus a small administrative fee. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment are non-refundable.
Is the Gender Reveal scan always 100% accurate?
We strive for the highest accuracy from 15 weeks onward. If the baby’s position prevents a clear, confident determination of sex during the appointment, we will offer you a free return visit at your earliest convenience.
What happens if I have incorrectly estimated my pregnancy dates?
If the sonographer finds that you are significantly outside the optimal gestational window for the scan you booked, they will advise you. A portion of your fee will be held as credit, and we will reschedule you for the correct time to ensure you get a safe and clear diagnostic result.
