Emergency Scan FAQ

When should I book an Emergency Scan?

If you’re experiencing unexpected symptoms such as pain, bleeding, reduced movements, changes in pregnancy symptoms, or simply feeling anxious about your baby’s well-being, an emergency scan can provide immediate reassurance. Many parents choose this scan for peace of mind between routine hospital appointments.

Will I receive the results straight away?

Yes — your sonographer will talk you through the findings during your scan and explain what everything means. If any medical follow-up is needed, we’ll guide you on the next steps and provide the information you may need to speak with your midwife or doctor.

Do I need a referral from my GP or midwife?

No referral is required. You can book directly with us, and appointments are often available the same day, including evenings and weekends.

What will this scan check for?

The scan focuses on confirming baby’s heartbeat, movement, position, growth measurements (from 15 weeks onward), amniotic fluid levels, and overall well-being. It is designed to help provide clarity and reassurance quickly during worrying moments.

Can I bring someone with me to the appointment?

Yes, absolutely. We welcome partners or a support person to attend with you so you don’t have to experience worrying moments alone.
